We have a fantastic Production Editor vacancy, working for one of the leading London based academic publishers, who are looking to appoint an experienced Production Editor to join their books publishing team.

This role can be worked on a hybrid basis in their London office 2 days a week and 3 days from home.

Responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with authors to ensure timely delivery of manuscripts
  • Answering author queries related to book production
  • Check, proofread, and on occasion copyedit manuscripts to ensure format adheres to house style
  • Maintain accurate book information on company database
  • Preparing back-cover blurb and liaise with designers for book covers
  • Attending regular team meetings to discuss progress of manuscripts

In this role, you will help to develop and shape editorial processes, ensuring the highest quality service is provided to authors. The company will provide internal training, where required, in addition to appropriate external courses if required.

The successful candidate will have sufficient proven experience from an academic book production editorial background (at least 1-2 years minimum experience). With your strong interest in networking with authors, you will also have a sound understanding of editorial copyediting and proofreading standards. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as will be your ability to manage multiple projects. The ability to work independently as well as a team player in a dynamic, international environment is also essential.
