We are working with a fabulous London based academic publishing organisation to recruit an experienced Production Editor to work on a range of books, reprints and online products. This role will work on a hybrid basis and will report to the Production Manager, ensuring that material is produced on time, within budget and to appropriate quality standards.

Key responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Commissioning and briefing freelancers
  • Dealing with suppliers
  • Checking all material for quality, legal and technical problems
  • Copyediting/proofreading material
  • Liaising with commissioning editors and authors on the presentation of material
  • Costing projects and creating production schedules
  • Managing the print process for new titles and reprints

We are looking for candidates with book production experience, ideally from an academic publishing environment. You will have up to date knowledge of the book production processes and strong copyediting and proofreading skills. A keen eye for detail is a must as are sound organisational and communication skills. You will have sound IT skills plus database, internet and spreadsheet experience.
