Job Title: Data ScientistJob Type: Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) until March 2026Location: RemoteSalary: £31,000 - £36,500About the RoleWe're working on behalf of a leading charity to find a talented Data Scientist for their advanced analytics team. This is a unique opportunity to develop and implement data science solutions that support their mission. In this role, you will design and deploy models to drive data-informed decision-making, collaborating with various teams across the organisation to ensure that solutions meet their needs.Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the charity to showcase the potential of data science and identify impactful opportunities.
  • Develop and deploy advanced data science models, with an initial focus on building NLP capabilities for helpline services to better understand children's concerns and improve reporting. This includes creating, fine-tuning, and deploying machine learning models, including generative and non-generative language models.
  • Stay current with industry advancements, ensuring models are optimised for specific needs.

About YouWe're looking for someone with:

  • Strong experience in data science and machine learning, with the ability to select the best models based on project goals and resources.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python and SQL, along with experience using NLP, machine learning libraries, frameworks, and data visualisation techniques.
  • Proven experience in deploying machine learning models and a solid understanding of model evaluation metrics.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, especially Azure.
  • Knowledge of coding best practices and version control (e.g., Git) in collaborative software projects.
  • A creative, solution-focused approach and the tenacity to make ideas happen.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and ethical AI considerations to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across teams.
