About the Role: Quest Search & Selection is partnering with a leading tech eCommerce platform focused on consumer goods and delivery. This business offers a wide range of products, including household essentials, medication, groceries, office supplies, and fresh food.

The Lead Data Scientist - Category Management will analyze large datasets, develop decision support systems, and provide insights to optimize category performance. You will collaborate with the In-Stock Merchandising team and manage a Data Analyst to drive product buying, inventory management, and NPD analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measure and report on availability levels, their impact on revenue and orders.

  • Collaborate with Category and In-Stock teams to enhance the Stock Ordering Tool and refine buying policies.

  • Provide insights into the performance and value of buying policies within the tool.

  • Ensure targets for wastage, expiration, and availability are met.

  • Design and evaluate experiments to optimize buying policies.

  • Set dynamic availability and expiration targets across subcategories.

  • Conduct analyses and post-implementation reviews to identify opportunities for improvement in availability and expirations.

Key Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of experience in analytics/data science, preferably in grocery, operations, or consumer products.

  • Open to experience in Investment Banking at Senior Associate or VP level.

  • Experience in start-ups/scale-ups is a plus.

  • Strong statistical analysis and experiment design skills.

  • Proficiency in SQL and large dataset querying.

  • Familiarity with dbt, Python, or R is a plus.

  • Experience with BI platforms (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) preferred.

  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field is advantageous.
