The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Alumni Relations Officer to join our Clients team in a historic City Livery Company, a Company which makes a major contribution to the social and economic development of society and the nation through educational philanthropy.

Our Client is seeking an Alumni Relations Officer to develop, engage with, and support their community. The role is integral to building strong, long-term relationships with the Company’s alumni network and to supporting the Company’s Development Strategy.

Working as part of the Development team, the Alumni Relations Officer will work closely with the alumni network of bursary and scholarship holders, award winners, with internal stakeholders to strengthen alumni ties and foster a vibrant and engaged alumni community. This is a highly collaborative role, with opportunities to assist in other development-related duties and initiatives.

The role, reporting to the Head of Development, will support alumni engagement activities, manage our clients mentoring programme, plan alumni events, and contribute to wider development efforts by identifying potential relationships and partnership opportunities for the Head of Development through alumni connections.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain regular engagement with alumni through communications and events.
  • Build relationships with alumni to foster long-term connections.
  • Work collaboratively with other Company staff to ensure alumni contributions align with the broader Development and Education strategies.
  • Relaunch and manage our clients mentoring programme, matching alumni with mentees and supporting mentoring relationships.
  • Plan and deliver alumni events (both in-person and virtual).
  • Coordinate logistics and follow-up communications.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and partners to ensure the smooth delivery of alumni events and activities.
  • Assist with the creation of content for alumni communications (newsletters, social media, etc.).
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure cohesive messaging.
  • Provide feedback and insights to assist the Head of Development in shaping a new alumni engagement strategy.
  • Implement and monitor alumni engagement strategy activities.
  • Maintain accurate alumni records and ensure GDPR compliance.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs and KPMs to capture and measure the impact and outcomes of alumni activities.
  • Monitor and track alumni engagement, producing reports for the Head of Development and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist the Head of Development by identifying alumni who may offer partnership or fundraising opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Development to explore opportunities for alumni to contribute to fundraising efforts or act as ambassadors for the Company’s mission.
  • Support wider development initiatives.
  • Work with internal staff colleagues to align alumni activities with broader Development goals.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Undertake any reasonable responsibilities from time to time as required by the Head of Development to reflect the changing needs of the Company.

Experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in alumni relations, membership or volunteer engagement.
  • Experience organising and delivering events or coordinating projects from inception to completion.   
  • Experience working with digital communication platforms and social media for engagement purposes.   
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office, including g Word, Excel and PowerPoint and social media channels.
  • Good knowledge of GDPR and data protection regulations.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently.
  • Positive attitude to teamwork, collaborative working and inclusivity.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • The ability to find innovative ways of solving and or anticipating problems.
