Senior Town Planner

Location: Kings Cross, London, NC1 4AG

About the Role:

Due to significant growth opportunities within the renewable energy sector, we are seeking an ambitious, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Senior Town Planner to support the delivery of all consented, permitted, and stakeholder engagement requirements across a range of renewable and sustainable development projects.

This is a flexible role, based in Kings Cross, London, with travel across the UK for site visits, planning committee meetings, and planning consultation events as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Play a central role in planning processes, working on projects including Solar, Battery Storage, EV, Hydrogen, and land development initiatives.
  • Evaluate land opportunities from a planning perspective, assessing risks, and providing mitigative recommendations.
  • Undertake site appraisals and feasibility studies, advising on cost vs. benefit recommendations.
  • Support project planning deadlines in collaboration with the wider development team.
  • Collaborate with external planning partners to ensure the smooth delivery of projects.
  • Represent the organization at public consultation events and planning committee meetings.
  • Manage planning budgets and ensure approvals are in line with project requirements.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 3 years' post-graduate planning experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Experience in environmental, sustainability, or renewable energy planning sectors from a developer or client-side perspective.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning policies, particularly related to Solar and Battery Storage projects.
  • Demonstrable experience with planning applications and legislative procedures.
  • Understanding of local governance and experience attending planning committee meetings.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Excel for creating planning-related models.
