Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a forward-thinking, independent consultancy providing exceptional planning, design, and environmental services across the UK. We work on a range of high-profile projects, including some of the country's largest and most significant infrastructure developments, and we're looking to expand our team with a driven Planner to help deliver excellence for our clients.
The Role:
As a Planner, you will play a key role in supporting our planning team on various applications and projects. You'll work alongside experienced colleagues to further develop your technical expertise and grow your career in planning.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Project Management: Manage project budgets, work in progress, and ensure financial success. Take responsibility for medium-scale projects or multiple smaller projects with complex features.
- Planning Applications: Draft and manage planning applications, pre-application enquiries, appeals, and undertake basic planning appraisals and research.
- Client Liaison: Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and external parties to ensure smooth project delivery. Manage senior client relationships and negotiate positive outcomes.
- Community Engagement: Assist with community engagement activities, committee meetings, and public consultations.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals to ensure the accurate preparation of planning submissions and supporting information.
- Site Visits: Attend occasional site visits and client meetings to ensure that projects are progressing as planned.
About You:
We're looking for a passionate and motivated individual who is eager to grow and make a meaningful contribution to our work. The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualifications: RTPI accredited degree or Masters in a relevant discipline, and ideally, you should be a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or working towards it.
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year's experience in the planning industry (public or private sector).
- Skills: Excellent communication, client liaison, and negotiation skills. Strong report writing and project management capabilities.
- Knowledge: A solid understanding of the UK planning process, including regulations, procedures, and best practices.
