You will be In-House supporting the firm in all disputes that affect the firm which could range from conflicts, ethics, engagement terms, compliance and legal requirements.

Astral Legal have partnered with a leading global law firm as they are recruiting an Assistant General Counsel to work In-House in their General Counsel's office. You will be In-House supporting the firm in all disputes that affect the firm which could range from conflicts, ethics, engagement terms, compliance and legal requirements.

You will be dealing with the regulators handling malpractice and negligence matters, lawsuits and claims against the firm. You will be managing complaints from clients, third parties and handling the firm policies; risk management and matters affecting the reputation of the firm; and legal issues in the business of the firm such as contracts and agreements.

Working and managing disputes across the EMEA and APAC regions, including professional negligence claims. This key role involves reporting directly to and working closely with the firm's senior management team.

Key Responsibilities of the Associate General Counsel will be:

  • Managing the resolution of disputes that affect the firm
  • Primary responsibility for handling professional negligence matters, including investigating, defending and working to resolve claims
  • Reporting to and liaising with the firm's insurers, including participating in renewal discussions
  • Instructing and managing external counsel
  • Responsibility for any enforcement steps (including proceedings) needed to collect unpaid fees due to the firm
  • Working with the General Counsel and the Director, Risk Management on internal investigations
  • Managing any necessary reports and updates about disputes matters to regulators, especially the SRA

The ideal candidate will have around 12-15 years plus experience, have In-House experience or have been seconded.
