Service Care Legal are currently recruiting for a Childcare Legal Officer to join a highly-respected London Borough Council on a contract basis. Please find below further details with regards to this role.

ROLE: Childcare Legal OfficerLOCATION: West LondonRATE: £24.14 to 26.14 per hour LTD (DOE and interview performance)CONTRACT: 6 months, 36 hours per week

Please note that this would be a hybrid working position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage a caseload of up to 13 care cases with no advocacy
  • Assist senior colleagues in managing complex and confidential cases, conducting thorough research, and preparing organized materials.
  • Draft legal documents and attend meetings with counsel, external professionals, and the public.
  • Take the lead in drafting documents, providing instructions to Counsel, and negotiating fees with external solicitors and barristers.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous Childcare Law experience within a local authority would be essential
  • A law degree or equivalent legal qualification would be required for this role
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently with minimal supervision
