Locum Corporate Governance Officer

Up to £45 umbrella per hour

Local Authority in the South Coast

3 month period initially, with very high possibility for extension

Full time, 35 hours per week, fully remote

Are you a driven Corporate Governance specialist looking to make a difference in the public sector? Venn Group is working with a brilliant local authority in the South Coast in their pursuit of a Corporate Governance Officer on a locum basis for an initial 3-month period, with the very high potential for long-term extension.

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a corporate governance officer in a public sector organisation or local authority
  • Experience with smaller sized councils would be advantageous
  • Experience dealing with senior politicians and lawyers in previous role
  • Qualified lawyer with experience in governance would be ideal, but not essential

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Monitoring Officer with all levels of governance support
  • Understanding the Procurement Act and being able to support with this
  • Conducting and researching areas of governance
  • Liaising with politicians and senior lawyers
  • Mentoring and training less experienced team members
  • Deputising for senior members of the legal team when necessary
