Good Morning ,Service Care Legal re seeking an experienced and qualified Criminal/Regulatory Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEx to join a law firm on a rolling contract basis. This is a fully remote, highly flexible role, ideal for someone with experience in criminal defense, particularly those with a strong understanding of criminal procedure in both Magistrates and Crown Courts.ROLE:                  Criminal/Regulatory Solicitor (Private Client)LOCATION:          Fully RemoteRATE:                   £40.00 to £50.00 per hourCONTRACT:        Rolling Contract (Flexible)This role involves defending businesses in regulatory law matters, specifically when they face prosecution. Please note, this is not a prosecution lawyer position; we are looking for someone with expertise in defence law related to regulatory offenses. While experience in regulatory law is beneficial, we are open to applicants with a background in general criminal defence who are looking to apply their skills in this area.Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent businesses in criminal and regulatory defence cases
  • Provide legal advice and strategy for clients in regulatory matters
  • Handle cases in Magistrates and Crown Courts
  • Manage a varied caseload of criminal defence matters, including regulatory offenses
  • Prepare legal documents, including defence statements and case summaries
  • Conduct legal research, and ensure compliance with criminal procedure
Essential Requirements:
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEx
  • Demonstrable experience in criminal defence, ideally with knowledge of criminal procedure in both Magistrates and Crown Courts
  • Experience or an interest in working on regulatory defence matters (training can be provided)
  • Strong legal research and drafting skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
  • Excellent communication and client care skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work remotely
Desirable:
  • Experience in regulatory law (e.g., health and safety, environmental, financial regulations)
  • Previous experience working with businesses in a defense capacity
