Service Care Legal are currently recruiting on behalf of a Legal 500 firm who are seeking a Duty Solicitor to join their criminal department. Please find below further details with regards to this role.ROLE: Duty SolicitorLOCATION: Central or South East LondonSALARY: £37,000 to £45,000The Role:

  • To handling a variety of criminal defence cases and providing essential representation to clients.
  • To manage your own caseload and gain exposure to a broad range of criminal matters.
  • To conduct advocacy in the Magistrates' Court and, if you have, in the Crown Court.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing representation for clients detained at police stations
  • Managing your own caseload of criminal defence cases, covering a wide range of offences
  • Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates' Court, including summary trials, and Crown Court hearings (if you hold Higher Rights of Audience)

The Person:

  • At least 1 year's PQE in criminal law
  • Duty Solicitor accreditation
  • Proficiency with case management systems and IT
  • The ability to manage a demanding caseload with minimal supervision
