Interim Head of Legal Services - London local authority

Contract: 6 months with view to extend

Rate: Negotiable

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to shaping the organisation to deliver modern, agile, inclusive services and outcomes for the residents and communities.
  • Create a safe and inclusive working environment that provides staff within their function with the confidence to continue to deliver services during the transition and transformation of the council.
  • Foster and cultivate long term constructive relationships with a range of stakeholders at both a local and national level, to position the Council at the centre of relevant networks.
  • Work with Departments to put proper governance/transparency at the heart of service design and decision making, removing barriers, and enabling staff to be imaginative and innovative.
  • Regularly conduct budget monitoring, ensuring Hillingdon has a more sustainable financial model, where we are able to improve service delivery while maintaining or reducing costs.
  • Identify trends and developments in Legal Services, anticipating future issues, promoting innovative and creative new approaches to positively challenge current thinking and deliver an outstanding experience for all.

Personal requirements:

  • Practising Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow (or equivalent) of the Institute of Legal Executives qualified to practice.
  • Post graduate management qualification or evidence of senior management development with evidence of continuing relevant professional and personal development.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely, across all media, adapting your style to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Demonstrates good problem-solving and decision-making. Takes evidence-based and risk management approach and evaluates implications and consequences in reaching a solution.
