Our valued client is a leading transport company, looking for a corporate commercial Lawyer to join their in-house legal team for a 6-12 month period. Whilst the assignment is for an initial duration of 6-12 months, there is a chance of further extension or permanency. Successful individuals will be expected to spend 3-4 days per week in their London office, with the remainder working from home. The assignment is to start ASAP, mid-April at the latest.

The successful individual will join a close knit, friendly and collegiate legal team, reporting into the Head of legal, and can expect to be involved in a range of corporate and commercial matters.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing accurate and concise legal advice to Procurement and IT teams
  • Drafting commercial contracts across all areas of the business (including IT and general procurement), with a particular emphasis on IT contracts
  • Advise and negotiate on supplier's standard terms, particularly SaaS terms, software maintenance and support agreements, payment services and IT hardware purchase and maintenance contracts
  • Advising on transport franchise agreements
  • Attending and supporting Procurement in negotiations with suppliers
  • Providing legal advice to the business regarding required contractual terms and compliance with UK GDPR
  • Supporting on corporate M&A matters, including drafting and negotiating legal terms and post acquisition integration matters
  • Undertaking M&A due diligence reviews

It is likely that successful individuals will be able to demonstrate:

  • Qualification as a solicitor in England & Wales, or another commonwealth jurisdiction (such as Australia and/or New Zealand, for example)
  • Upwards of 3 years' experience in handling a broad range of corporate and commercial matters (specifically those mentioned above)
  • A strong Private Practice background, with experience working within a fast-paced in-house legal team is preferable
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and timeframes
  • The ability to prioritise a busy caseload
  • A willingness to work as part of a cohesive legal team

Due to the desired start date, it is likely that the successful individual will be available at short notice or immediately.
