The Regional Counsel (Europe & India) will oversee legal matters relating to property development (acquisitions, construction, development and lease renewals) across Europe and India and provide strategic legal advice to support the business operations in these regions.

Description

This is a mix or transactional property work, construction and commercial contracting. Reporting straight into the UK based General Counsel, you will:

  • act as principal legal lead on greenfield developments (construction of new sites), lease renewals and site expansions across Europe and India (this is a PE backed, rapidly expanding business. The amount of sites which the organisation is operating / developing is due to grow further over the next few years).
  • lead region-specific projects to transform legal operational practice and risk management and support on other day-to-day legal operational matters for both your Region and, when the need arises, on projects for other key/strategic/functional areas within the organisation.

Profile

The successful candidate will be a lawyer, qualified in the UK or another similar Common Law orientated jurisdiction.

They will be likely to have:

  • over 8 years of PQE (this benchmarking is based on the work on offer, the team structure and the remuneration on offer for this role).
  • trained in and practiced property development or construction at respected law firm and to have had in-house experience working on property development matter at a company operating in a relevant field (probably with a large/expanding real estate asset base).
  • demonstrable experience of working on commercial contracts.
  • experience on working cross-border transactions.
  • a willingness to attend the organisation's Central London offices 3 or 4 times per week.
