We are currently working with leading financial services legal firm to help them identify a Senior Business Controls Manager.Some of your duties will include:
  • Review, update and develop policies and procedures for each of our operating jurisdictions. This will involve both independent research and working collaboratively with the management team in each jurisdiction, to ensure that our policies and procedures are clear, effective and fully compliant with applicable legal and regulatory requirements 
  • Ensure compliance with our governance processes for the approval of policies and procedures, including taking responsibility for the management of our Policies and Procedures Committees.
  • Support and lead projects to develop new services in reaction to client opportunities, regulatory change or service line development, in particular in relation to the development of fund services solutions.
  • Analyse and map new legal and regulatory requirements (working closely with In-House Counsel), to secure our compliance culture and identify areas where new or improved policies and procedures are required.
  • Provide or arrange relevant training for the team on our policies and procedures, so that the team are familiar with our controls framework and have the opportunity to ask questions.
  • Manage templates, checklists and processes across the business, so that these are up-to-date and as consistent and easy to use as possible, taking advantage of technology solutions (such as document automation) where appropriate.
  • Assist the Head of Business Controls to proactively identify and assess risks and controls; ensuring that the correct framework is in place across the business to protect our business and enhance client service delivery.
We are looking for:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably with a legal qualification but a relevant governance, compliance or accounting qualification would also be considered. 
  • Demonstrable experience in a relevant role at a regulated business or have a legal background with experience of advising corporate services businesses.
  • In addition to excellent written and verbal skills, and technical knowledge of best practice when it comes to drafting policies and procedures, we're looking for someone who has a genuine desire to help and support people.
  • Focus on client service and high ethical standards, as we'll be relying on you to help keep our business and teams operating in a safe and compliant way. This role also involves significant attention to detail and highly developed analytical skills
  • Comfortable working as part of a team, as well as independently – taking charge of your own workload and proactively suggesting areas you'd like to get involved with
