Senior Childcare Solicitor

Service Care Legal are currently recruiting a qualified Senior Childcare Solicitor to join a local authority in London on a 6 to 12-month contract. Please find below further details regarding this position.ROLE: Senior Childcare Solicitor LOCATION: West London (Hybrid working available)CONTRACT: 6 to 12 months, 36 hours per weekRATE: £50-55 per hour LTD - rate would depend on PQE, experience and interview performancePlease note this would require office attendance once per month (with occasional additional hearings).Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on child protection, care proceedings, and other social care law issues.
• Manage a diverse caseload and ensure timely progress of cases.
• Represent the Council in hearings and trials, undertaking advocacy as required.
• Collaborate with Children's Services and other departments to deliver legal guidance.
• Conduct legal research and contribute to strategic decision-making.
• Attend meetings with client departments and external stakeholders.

The Candidate

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX with current eligibility to practice in England and Wales.
• Strong experience in child protection law, care proceedings, and judicial reviews.
• Advocacy skills and ability to manage complex cases.
• Previous work within a local authority would also be essential.
