Position: Locum Senior Planning Lawyer

Organisation: Local Authority Based in South East England

Duration: 3 months with the option for an extension

Working Pattern: Full time

Working Arrangement: Remote Working with1 day every 3 months for committee in person

Hourly Rate: up to £60 per hour (dependent upon experience)

Venn Group’s specialist public sector legal team are recruiting for Local Authority based in South East England, who are in search of an experienced SeniorPlanning Lawyer to join the team owing to a new vacancy

The role of Locum Planning Lawyer is offered for an initial 3 month period with the potential being there for extension based upon performance and requirement. This will allow a planning lawyer to join the team and play a pivotal role in the expansion of the team

The ideal candidate for this role will be a qualified Barrister, Solicitor or Legal Executive (CILEx) with a proven track record of successfully managing Planning Law cases within Local Government

Duties Shall Include:

  1. Caseload Management: Hold and manage a diverse caseload of planning law matters, including Section 106 agreements, enforcement prosecutions, and planning appeals.
  2. Planning Applications and Appeals: Handle and provide legal advice on planning applications and appeals, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  3. Local Plans: Offer strategic advice on local plans, assisting with the development and implementation of planning policies.
  4. Site Acquisition Due Diligence: Provide comprehensive due diligence and strategic planning advice before site acquisitions.
  5. Highways and Infrastructure Law: Advise on highways and infrastructure law, including stopping up orders, highway licenses, and Section 278 and Section 38 agreements.
  6. Management: To act as the line manager for 1 Junior Planning Lawyer in the team.
