A leading global insurance and reinsurance provider is seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Natural Perils to join their Science & Natural Perils team. This role involves working closely with scientists, catastrophe modelers, and actuaries to incorporate scientific expertise into the (re)insurance decision-making process, impacting portfolio aggregation, technical pricing, capital modeling, and business planning.About the RoleAs the Senior Manager – Natural Perils, you will manage Model Evaluation projects for third-party catastrophe models, provide expert technical analysis, and collaborate with internal scientists and actuaries to leverage their expertise in project work. This role also involves managing a team based in London and India, developing solutions for traditionally non-modeled natural perils, and implementing modeling solutions for technical pricing, accumulation management, and capital setting.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage Model Evaluation projects, analyzing catastrophe models, and providing loss calibration.
  • Communicate evaluation findings and recommendations to underwriters, actuaries, modelers, and senior management.
  • Build an external network within the catastrophe modeling industry and engage with model vendors.
  • Manage a model evaluation team in both London and India.
Skills & ExperienceEssential:
  • Extensive catastrophe modeling experience in (re)insurance, especially with model evaluation/validation.
  • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a numerate subject.
  • Expertise in RMS and AIR; advanced SQL skills.
Desirable:
  • People management experience.
  • Knowledge of Impact Forecasting, JBA, COMBUS, and proficiency in programming (SQL essential, R preferred) and Power BI.
