A specialist school in Waltham Forest is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to support students aged 3-19 years.

Position: Learning Mentor
Location: Waltham Forest
Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised learning plans.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress and well-being.

Requirements - Desired but not all is essential:

  • Experience working with children and young people with Autism, implementing strategies to support communication, social skills, and sensory needs.
  • Experience supporting students with ADHD, using techniques to enhance focus, organisation, and self-regulation.
  • Knowledge of working with students with PMLD, providing personalised care and educational support.
  • Experience with adapting teaching methods to meet varied cognitive abilities.
  • Expertise in implementing interventions to promote emotional well-being.
  • Experience with using specialised teaching methods to improve literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of Dyspraxia, providing support for motor skills development and coordination.
  • Experience using assisting technologies and tailored communication methods.
