About the Role:
Are you motivated by the idea of providing crucial emotional and social support to students in a secondary school setting? LTF Recruitment is seeking an empathetic and proactive Pastoral Assistant to join a well-established secondary school in Waltham Forest, London. Situated in a vibrant area with excellent transport links, this school has a strong reputation for its supportive and inclusive approach to education, offering students a safe environment to grow both academically and personally.

As a Pastoral Assistant, you'll play an integral role in supporting students' well-being, helping them overcome social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, and assisting them in building the resilience they need for success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and group pastoral support to students, helping them with emotional, social, and behavioural issues
  • Work closely with the pastoral team, teachers, and parents to ensure students receive the support they need
  • Monitor and track student well-being, providing regular feedback to pastoral staff
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive school environment, promoting respectful behaviour and engagement
  • Support students in developing self-confidence, social skills, and coping strategies
  • Participate in pastoral initiatives, including workshops, assemblies, and events that promote well-being

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a secondary school or similar setting, ideally in a pastoral or support role
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting young people
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for students

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working with students who have SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and behaviour management strategies

Additional Information:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Paid 110 - 120 per day, term time only
  • Based in Waltham Forest, London - accessible by local transport
