About the Role:
We're seeking committed Pastoral and Behaviour Mentors to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Waltham Forest from January. This inclusive school caters to students from Year 7 through to Sixth Form, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere among students, staff, and families. The school prides itself on its strong pastoral care, designed to support every student in achieving their full potential both academically and personally.

As a Pastoral/Behaviour Mentor, you'll work closely with students, providing guidance and encouragement to help them navigate social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. You will collaborate with the school's pastoral team, ensuring that every student feels valued, supported, and empowered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and group support to students, focusing on emotional resilience, behaviour management, and personal growth
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral leaders, and parents to address student concerns and develop effective strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour and social interaction, helping students engage fully with their learning
  • Support students transitioning between year groups, including Sixth Form, ensuring they feel confident and prepared
  • Monitor and report on student progress, contributing to team discussions about pastoral care and interventions
  • Assist with the delivery of workshops, assemblies, and pastoral initiatives that promote well-being and inclusion

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with young people, particularly in a secondary school setting or pastoral role
  • A compassionate, proactive, and patient approach to supporting students with emotional or behavioural needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents
  • Confidence in handling challenging behaviour and a commitment to promoting positive change
  • A dedication to safeguarding and enhancing the well-being of young people

Details:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Paid up to £125 per day, term time only
  • Based in Waltham Forest, London
  • January start with potential for long-term placement
