About the Role:
Are you passionate about supporting young people to reach their full potential? Long Term Futures is partnering with a dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Hackney to find a dedicated Pastoral Mentor. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a forward-thinking school that prioritises well-being, personal development, and academic success for every student.

As a Pastoral Mentor, you'll play a key role in supporting students who may face emotional, social, or behavioural challenges (SEMH), helping them to overcome barriers and engage positively with their education. The school is seeking someone who can bring energy, empathy, and creativity to this rewarding position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group mentoring to students, focusing on emotional resilience, self-confidence, and personal growth (SEMH)
  • Support students in managing their behaviour and maintaining positive relationships within the school community
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and the school's pastoral team to identify and address student needs
  • Deliver engaging workshops and initiatives aimed at promoting mental health, well-being, and social skills
  • Act as a role model and trusted advisor, guiding students through challenges and encouraging them to achieve their best
  • Assist in tracking and monitoring the progress of targeted students, contributing to wider school strategies for improvement

Who We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people in a secondary school, youth work, or similar environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • The ability to inspire confidence and model positive behaviours
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and behaviour management techniques

Additional Details:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Paid 110 - 125 per day, term time only
  • Based in Hackney, London
  • Start date: January 2025
