A primary school in Camden Borough, NW London, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Mentor to support two siblings who have experienced trauma. This full-time role involves working across Year 2 and Year 6, providing targeted emotional and behavioural support to help them overcome challenges and thrive in their education.
Key Responsibilities for the Pastoral Mentor:
- Offer tailored support to two pupils who have experienced trauma, focusing on their emotional and mental well-being.
- Work closely with the class teachers and pastoral team to develop strategies for behaviour management and engagement.
- Create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that fosters trust and encourages positive outcomes.
- Address the psychological and emotional challenges faced by the pupils, promoting resilience and self-confidence.
- As a pastoral mentor, your role is to maintain regular communication with parents, teachers, and external agencies as needed.
What We're Looking For in a Pastoral Mentor:
- Experience as a Pastoral Mentor or in a similar role, particularly with children who have experienced trauma or behavioural challenges.
- A background in psychology, mental health, or related fields is highly desirable.
- Exceptional patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build meaningful relationships with pupils and staff.
- A proactive and solutions-focused mindset to inspire positive change.
