Our client, a FTSE 100 Financial Services business, is looking to recruit a Legal Counsel & Senior Assistant Company Secretary to support their Group Secretariat, in what is a varied and exciting role, offering a lot of growth opportunity.

About the company

A leading FTSE 100 Financial Services business, focused on Private Equity and Infrastructure investment.

Among its activities it also acts as investment manager for a FTSE 250 listed infrastructure investment company in which the Group has a significant minority stake.

Based in London, hybrid working of 4 days in the office - though a reasonable approach to flexibility is taken.

About the team

The Group Secretariat currently comprises of the Group Deputy Company Secretary, a Senior Assistant Company Secretary and two administrators. The Secretariat also assists the General Counsel/Company Secretary in his role, working closely with the legal teams (approx. 8 in total).

This is a very collegiate, cohesive and high performing team, with a lot of members having been at the company for several years.

About the role

Responsibilities in this role are varied and will depend on your experience and expertise. However, you can expect them to include the following:

  • Provide full company secretarial support to the organisations Infrastructure Investment Company, which is a FTSE 250 listed business. This will include providing advice to the board, attending and minuting meetings
  • Advising on and drafting Board/Committee papers on corporate governance developments
  • Support on a range of Corporate Projects
  • Drafting significant sections of the annual reports and drafting notices of AGM
  • In conjunction with HR and Finance, involvement

This role offers significant growth potential, with increasing responsibilities as the ideal candidate progresses and develops alongside the company.

About you

You will be a qualified solicitor, with 5+ years post qualification experience, ideally in corporate law. The ideal candidate will also have practical experience of company secretarial matters.

You will have strong attention to detail and be a self-starter, who can work autonomously and has a willingness to learn. You will have an enthusiastic and mature approach, with the ability to deal with all levels of staff, including senior management and non-executive directors.
