Position Title: Legal Secretary (Wills, Probate, Family & Litigation)Location: LondonSalary: £24,000-£30,000Reference: BH-36900Work Type: Permanent, Full-Time (Office Based)About The Firm: My client, a well-established firm of solicitors located in, South East London, is offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Legal Secretary to join their team. This is a full-time, office-based role primarily assisting the Wills & Probate team, while also supporting the Family and Litigation teams. The firm provides a comfortable and well-equipped working environment, with excellent transport links nearby.Position Overview: This role is ideal for a highly organised individual with a proactive approach. The successful candidate will assist multiple departments within the firm and perform a wide range of secretarial and administrative tasks. Training can be provided in certain areas if required.Key Responsibilities:
  • Sending questionnaire forms to clients regarding wills, probate, and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs).
  • Handling telephone enquiries and liaising with clients to schedule appointments.
  • File opening for team leaders in the Wills, Probate, Family, and Litigation teams.
  • Ensuring compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements and maintaining general office organisation.
  • Managing incoming post, filing, and post matching.
  • Handling digital dictation and renaming scanned documents for the case management system.
  • Recording time and preparing financial statements, including pro forma, interim, and final bills.
  • Drafting attendance and file notes, as well as chasing up clients and setting up payments.
  • Updating estate accounts, drafting and sending draft wills to clients, and managing will engrossment and signing.
  • Maintaining the case management system, ensuring contacts, executors, and other relevant parties are up to date.
  • Engrossing and sending LPAs to the Office of the Public Guardian.
  • Closing files and sending documents to storage.
  • Occasionally assisting on reception as needed.
Requirements:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organised and proactive.
  • Team player with the ability to supervise junior staff.
  • Proficiency in digital dictation and experience with case management systems is a plus.
  • Attention to detail in handling client matters and preparing legal documentation.
