An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Trade Mark Paralegal to join a top, global law firm in London.Their Trade Mark team boasts an enviable client list of household names, whom they advise on all conceivable aspects of Trade Mark law. The IP practice as a whole is extremely well-respected in the market, they are capable of coordinating the most complex international disputes, licensing strategies and IP-rich corporate transactions, and have become a leading destination for heavyweight telecommunications and life sciences patent litigation. The firm are rightly proud of their integrated approach to brand management, assisted by colleagues across the globe.The firm have had a fairly small group of Paralegals in their London office (all integrated into their relevant teams), which means the successful Trade Mark Paralegal can look forward to a hands on role with lots of responsibility from the off. In terms of career development, the firm are keen to sponsor you through the CITMA course following six months strong performance.The role:This opportunity is for a Paralegal to join the Trade Mark Prosecution practice. You can expect responsibilities like the following:
  • Arranging the preparation and execution of supporting documents for filings, recordals and renewals.
  • Technical trade mark and design formalities at UKIPO and WIPO, including filing trade mark and design applications, all prosecution, renewal and post-registration steps (filling out and submitting official forms at UKIPO and WIPO)
  • Liaising regularly with internal stakeholders across the world, as well as clients, local IP counsels, UKIPO and WIPO.
  • Seeking instructions in relation to, and dealing with, renewals.
  • Deadline monitoring.
  • Company and trade mark searches online, as well as running searches via Corsearch
  • Taking responsibility for collating trade mark search reports to enable the team’s lawyers to provide advice to clients on availability and registrability of trade marks.
About you:Are you someone with an excellent eye for detail? Do you enjoy a collegiate, busy work environment? If so, this could be the role for you! This Trade Mark Paralegal role would really suit someone used to managing a busy workload to tight timeframes and great attention to detail.To be considered you will need 12 months plus experience in trade mark prosecution, design formalities or trade mark and design renewals. A demonstrable working knowledge of UK trade mark prosecution practice would be beneficial but isn’t a must-have.The CITMA Paralegal qualification would advantageous but, as mentioned above, if you don’t have it, the firm will offer sponsorship subject to six months’ good performance in the role. Experience with Corsearch and Anaqua (or other trade mark portfolio management tools) would also be beneficial, though training will be provided.This Trade Mark Paralegal role is a great opportunity to develop and grow in a top tier IP team in the City.
