Service Care Legal are currently seeking a motivated and proactive Childcare Legal Assistant to join a local authority based in the East London region. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in childcare law or a keen interest in working within this fast-paced, rewarding area.

ROLE: Childcare Legal AssistantLOCATION: East LondonRATE: £18.00 to £20.00 per hour (Umbrella)CONTRACT: 3-Month Rolling Contract

Please note that this role would require office attendance at least 2 days per week.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide essential support to the Safeguarding Team in childcare and care proceedings.
  • Assist with the preparation of legal bundles, applications, consent orders, and other legal documents within care proceedings.
  • Respond to routine queries and support with fast-paced, ad-hoc tasks.
  • Work closely with the Head of Safeguarding and team to ensure the timely and effective completion of tasks.
  • Handle administrative tasks efficiently and accurately, ensuring that all documentation is in compliance with relevant legal standards.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal in childcare law (preferably within a safeguarding or care proceeding context) is desirable.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in drafting legal documents.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to fast-changing priorities.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
