A highly respected international law firm with a strong London presence is seeking an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Compliance Assistant to join their growing Global AML & Compliance team. This full-time role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to a small, collaborative team that supports the firm globally, ensuring compliance with AML regulations and firm policies.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to be part of a team influencing the future of the firm’s global AML processes and procedures. Working alongside professionals in London and other offices worldwide, you’ll engage with cross-functional stakeholders, build key relationships, and play a critical role in maintaining the firm’s high compliance standards.

As an AML & Compliance Assistant, you’ll conduct due diligence on clients, counterparties, and third-party payors, using your research and analytical skills to identify any risks and ensure compliance. You’ll perform Politically Exposed Person (PEP) checks, sanctions screenings, and adverse press research, summarising your findings and contributing to the creation of client and matter risk assessments. Updating and maintaining the firm’s databases with accurate information is a key responsibility, as is escalating higher-risk matters and red flags as appropriate.

You will also have opportunities to contribute to the development of training materials for both lawyers and business services staff, as well as assist with updates to firm-wide risk assessments and policies. In this role, you’ll be exposed to various aspects of AML and compliance, making it an excellent position for someone keen to develop their expertise further.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in AML or sanctions compliance, preferably within a global law firm or financial institution. A solid understanding of AML, counter-terrorist financing (CTF), and sanctions legislation across Europe and Asia is essential, alongside experience in conducting diligence checks and risk assessments. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial, as is the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
