Debt Recovery Legal AssistantNational Law firm - central LondonHybrid£40,000The FirmDue to internal growth & promotion, we are looking for a detail-oriented debt recovery Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join the Compliance team of a national law firm.The Firm offers excellent career progression, a modern and inclusive culture set in stunning central London offices, and a host of market-leading benefits.About the RoleIn this role, you will play a key part in delivering an efficient and effective debt collection service. You will support litigation efforts in revenue control, helping to recover outstanding invoices through legal processes.Working closely with the Head of Claims and Debt Recovery and the wider senior Legal team, you will ensure a structured approach to debt recovery while maintaining excellent communication with fee earners and clients.Key Responsibilities

  • Review cases before action, recommending and agreeing on strategies with the Head of Claims and Debt Recovery.
  • Draft and send letters of claim.
  • Initiate and manage legal proceedings, including court actions where appropriate.
  • Handle insolvency proceedings as necessary.
  • Keep fee earners updated on case progress and financial recoveries.
  • Enhance existing debt collection processes and oversee litigation matters.
  • Negotiate and monitor installment payments.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of client and fee earner queries.
  • Act as a liaison between clients, fee earners, and the Head of Claims and Debt Recovery on disputes and complaints.
  • Work with revenue controllers and fee earners on invoice adjustments, write-offs, or transfers.
  • General Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing systems.
  • Respond promptly to client queries via phone and correspondence.
  • Keep comprehensive records of all interactions with clients and fee earners.

About You

  • Experience in in-house debt collection for professional practices.
  • Knowledge of court debt recovery processes.
  • An understanding of professional negligence and insolvency matters in a debt recovery process.
  • Experience in international debt collection
  • Familiarity with solicitors' cost assessments
  • A solid understanding of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct and Solicitors' Accounts Rules
  • Exceptional case management skills and keen attention to detail.
  • A proven track record of strong client communication and client care
