We are seeking an experienced Legal Advisor and qualified solicitor to support the London School of Science and Technology (LSST)s ambitions with respect to remaining abreast of and proactively responding to a wide range of legal matters. This extends to but will not exclusively concern; commercial matters, student issues, employment matters, litigation, academic partnerships, compliance with legislation and regulations, and legal agreements.

The person will be dealing with all the LSST legal matters, all the LSST policy and procedures, terms & conditions, student & staff complaints, Data protection matters, & OfS prevent submission. Keeping all the record of a complainer case file as a solicitor keeps in his office (both the Electronic & Hard copy).

Duties will include reviewing and drafting legal contracts and agreements, providing day-to-day advice on a range of legal and compliance issues, providing support regarding complex student and staff casework (e.g., complaints and appeals), managing litigation by or against LSST; working with a wide range of internal colleagues and representing the colleges interests through pro-active engagement with external stakeholders. The Legal Advisor will act as the main contact and liaison with external law firms on matters referred to external lawyers, and will manage and oversee the relationships with said law firms to ensure LSST obtains high quality and timely advice on a cost-effective basis.

The Legal Advisor will support LSSTs compliance with particular areas, including but not limited to, GDPR legislation, Competitions and Markets Authority, Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education, Office for Students, consumer protection law, and the Companies Act. The Legal Advisor would also be expected to act as the key contact with service providers such as the colleges insurers to ensure value for money is achieved.

Job purpose: Toprovide high quality legal advice to the college and lead on legal matters on the colleges behalf on specific projects as required.

Qualifications

UK qualified solicitor as recognised by the Law Society with a broad range of proven success and practical experience in legal practice.
