Are you a passionate reader with a love for fostering a learning environment? Do you have experience managing library resources, supporting students' reading development, and creating an engaging atmosphere for learning? We are seeking a dedicated School Librarian to join our team at a dynamic school in South London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, organize, and supervise the library, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Maintain learning resources and report any ICT issues to the relevant team.
  • Create and sustain a professional, stimulating, and tidy learning environment.
  • Advise students on the use, provision, and development of learning resources.
  • Collaborate with the English team to organize Book Week and events with authors.
  • Coordinate author visits with the English team to promote reading and writing.
  • Facilitate reading groups for students identified by the Literacy Coordinator.
  • Work with the Literacy Coordinator on library budget and book/equipment purchases.
  • Encourage library use across the curriculum at Key Stage 3/4.
  • Adapt working hours as needed to meet the needs of the library.
  • Keep accurate records using academy ICT systems for efficient resource management.
  • Disseminate information on library resources to staff and students.
  • Supervise lunchtime and break-time library use, including study support.

Key Requirements:

  • GCSEs in English and Mathematics or equivalent
  • Familiarity with library management systems
  • Knowledge of Accelerated Reader or similar reading programs
  • Understanding of the National Curriculum, especially in English
  • At least three years' experience in an inner-city school or educational setting
  • Proven experience managing a library service
  • Experience with a variety of reading schemes
