Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School in Haringey

We are seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join a secondary school in Haringey. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people by supporting students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including those from vulnerable backgrounds or exhibiting challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group mentoring for students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome personal barriers to learning and development.
  • Working as part of the Behaviour Team, being on-call if required in class.
  • Implement and support positive behaviour management strategies across the school.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and pastoral team to ensure students receive tailored interventions and support.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to promote positive attitudes and engagement in school.
  • Monitor students' progress and well-being, reporting to staff and parents where necessary.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to provide a well-rounded support system for students.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and/or those from vulnerable backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young people.
  • Understanding of youth work principles and experience working in educational or community settings.
  • Ability to manage behaviour positively and implement personalised intervention strategies.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role as a Behaviour Mentor, Learning Support Assistant, or Youth Worker.
  • Knowledge of mental health support strategies and safeguarding protocols.
  • Relevant qualifications in youth work, behavioural management, or education support.
