Lift Engineer - Permanent Opportunity

We are excited to announce a new permanent opportunity for a Lift Engineer to join a leading housing association in London. Our client is a large not-for-profit organisation committed to providing affordable homes for Londoners. They are one of the largest housing associations in London, with over 60,000 homes and an additional 10,000 in development.

Role Overview: The Lift Engineer will support the whole of the organisation's property portfolio, diagnosing faults and specifying solutions in partnership with contractors. You'll work with passenger lifts across low, medium, and high-rise blocks, including supported and sheltered housing, ensuring minimal disruption to residents who rely on the lifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee lift repairs and maintenance, liaising with contractors to ensure timely and effective completion.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues requiring multi-trade input.
  • Build strong relationships with resident-facing staff and contractors to ensure clear communication.
  • Act as an ambassador while working within buildings.
  • Share your expertise with the other Lift Engineer and contract administration team


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience working with lifting equipment in a residential setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a commitment to completing tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledgeable in lift installations and maintenance, with the ability to diagnose technical issues.
  • Ability to ensure contractors provide value for money and complete repairs promptly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer care, ensuring minimal inconvenience to residents.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience as a lift service engineer working with various manufacturers' equipment.
  • Experience as a lift installation engineer.
  • Experience in the residential sector.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and traction lift installations.
  • Ability to conduct intrusive inspections and prepare reports.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis of faults.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical matters to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Level 3 NVQ in Lift Installation Commissioning.
  • Level 3 NVQ in Lift Engineering Maintenance.
