Our client, an international bank based in the City, is seeking a skilled Credit Portfolio Officer to join their Credit Management Department. This role is pivotal in assessing, analysing, and managing credit risks, ensuring the bank minimises credit-related losses while maintaining a balanced, high-performing loan portfolio.

Principal Purpose of the Job:

  • Assess and manage credit risks associated with extending credit to businesses or entities.
  • Monitor the loan portfolio, identifying early warning signals to minimise potential losses.
  • Align portfolio objectives with risk tolerance, market conditions, and return expectations.
  • Deliver timely and accurate internal and external reports in both Chinese and English.
  • Support the Head/Deputy Head of the Credit Management Department with projects and tasks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Monitoring: Track repayment patterns, financial covenants, internal ratings, and exposure to identify signs of distress.
  • Credit Risk Reporting & Analysis: Prepare regular reports for management, committees, regulators, and stakeholders, reflecting risk exposure and management strategies.
  • Credit Risk Control: Manage credit limits for derivatives and money markets.
  • Risk Analysis: Monitor macroeconomic factors, industry trends, and peer performance to evaluate credit risks to the bank’s loan book.
  • Asset Quality Management: Oversee non-performing loans and write-offs.
  • IFRS 9 Compliance: Calculate provision models and draft provision overlay memos.
  • Policy Review: Assist in reviewing and updating policies, procedures, and operating manuals.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in credit portfolio management.
  • Proficient in both English and Mandarin (written and verbal). Essential
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using Excel and Power BI (Python and Access are a plus).
  • Excellent time management, able to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
