The Wellness Agency is supporting the recruitment of the new teams within the borough to reopen their facilities that will have undergone renovations and large investments to ensure their success.

The role of Assistant Spa Manager will, under the support and guidance of the Spa Manager, perform Head of Department duties connected to all Spa treatment area and Thermal Spa customers. Ensuring customers are satisfied by delivering a high standard of customer service. To achieve financial (promoting sales & managing costs) & responsible business goals. Have strong Health, Safety & Maintenance focus. Supporting the Spa Manager and representing the department in their absence..

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Spa Manager to achieve departmental goals and objectives (as set within business plans) including other requests as per the business needs, including representing the Spa at internal and external meetings.
  • Ensure smooth running of Spa department on a day-to-day basis with effective communication.
  • To ensure that the Brand Standards are observed, trained, focused and assessed throughout the year.
  • Ensure holiday management of the department is approved, recorded and tracked to ensure smooth operations and cover throughout the year.
  • To have an active role in the promotion of Learning and Development in the department, ensuring training activities are carried out and recorded.
  • Assist with the Recruitment process for the department, driving the efficient replacement of departing team members, and work to establish a ‘talent bank’ to ensure a rolling recruitment strategy to drive down the ‘time to recruit’.
  • Implement company disciplinary and performance management procedures with the support of HR, where necessary and in line with councils’ standards.
  • Ensure management presence at peak times to support the team and liaise with guests.
  • Oversee the departmental Health and Safety records, ensuring all documentation is in date, and that all team members are fully conversant in all aspects of the H&S requirements.
  • Understand actions required in case of a crisis, such as an evacuation, and ensure business continuity for the Spa.
  • To regularly review and update SOPs to reflect changes to current procedures or introduction of new procedures.
  • Ensure all therapists are registered on the Licence prior to employment.
  • Provides Leadership through leading by example, clearly communicating both operational & strategic information, ongoing customer feedback, ensuring team members are trained & developed, empowering your team through briefings, team meetings, allocation of resources, handovers and supervision of the team.
  • Actively contribute to the council’s priorities and outcomes in a way that promotes a ‘one organisation’ approach.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and communities to ensure the council and the directorate strategic priorities are effectively implemented.
  • Promote equality among all staff and ensure that services are delivered in a non-discriminatory way, that is inclusive of all disadvantaged groups.
  • Support organisational change and learning, following and implementing appropriate systems of self-development, communication and engagement, quality measures, monitoring and review in delivering the functions of the role.
  • Promote sustainability, including encouraging a culture of innovation and accountability amongst all council staff.
  • Ensure smooth running of the Spa on a day-to-day basis with effective communication within and between departments.
  • Ensure that all team members receive regular appraisals in line with the company standard appraisal schedule.
  • Implement company disciplinary and performance management procedures with the support of HR, where necessary and in line with Company standards.
  • Ensure effective management of payroll costs for spa departments, in line with budget.
  • Actively drive upselling within the Spa department by supporting the team, monitoring results and setting targets.
  • Ensuring customers are satisfied by delivering a high standard of customer service. Ensuring colleagues are satisfied by creating a strong & fair culture and effective communication.
  • Training therapists on all treatments offered, ensuring proper execution and adherence to health and safety requirements. Additionally, you will identify training needs within the department and proactively deliver training sessions.
  • Follows guidance and instructions given by Spa Manager, supported by the company’s standard operating procedures related but not limited to emergency and evacuation procedures. Attends and completes all mandatory Health & Safety training and is responsible for hygiene & health & safety within the department.
  • Reports any incidents, accidents or maintenance faults that may jeopardise customers or colleague’s satisfaction, health & wellbeing.
