Procurement Category Manager (IT Integration)
Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 per annumContract: 12 months Fixed Term ContractStart Date: April / May
Job PurposeTo identify, plan, and deliver benefits for a given category of spend, ensuring alignment with the University’s Procurement plan. This involves creating solutions for various categories and managing relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and senior management.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop the IT category strategy, including options and timescales, identifying relevant subcategories
- Manage and implement the procurement category strategy, working closely with the Head of Procurement and stakeholders
- Use procurement tools and best practices for tendering and plans, using market intelligence to support proposed changes
- Conduct supplier analysis, tender documentation, benchmarking, sourcing plans, contract management, and negotiations
- Identify and manage high-value/high-risk suppliers
- Benchmark services for value for money
- Work with other Category Managers for effective contract management
- Support and coach the Purchase to Payments team and other staff
- Deliver competitive procurement procedures for goods, services, and works
Person Specification
- CIPS qualification
- Specialist category knowledge in IT infrastructure, applications, software licensing, hardware, and related commercial opportunities
- Proven expertise in the technology space with a track record of delivering quantifiable benefits through procurement
- Knowledge of Public Contracts Regulations 2015, Procurement Act 2023/Procurement Regulations 2024
