About the Server Team Leader position:

Sellick Partnership is delighted to be working with a key local authority in the London area to recruit a Server Team Leader into their organisation for an immediate start - with interviews taking place week commencing Monday 7 April 2025.

The ideal candidate will benefit from a salary of £550 per day (inside IR35), and as a starting point, will be expected to be in the office 2 days a week but can be flexible once in position.

Key responsibilities of the Server Team Leader will include:

  • Have accountability and overarching responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of the Council's infrastructure, installing, administering, and optimising mainly Azure cloud-based Microsoft Windows servers and related components to achieve and maintain high performance of the council's infrastructure.
  • Ensure all patching and upgrades are undertaking in a timely manner
  • Manage a number of competing activities, at times with demanding deadlines, on a regular basis, with a range of complexities, from a complex to tactical, including decisions that could impact the delivery of the service to the whole Council
  • Update and maintain the inventory of server location and connections covering all of Enfield council's operational locations. Own and update server names, locations, capacity, connections and third-party support relationships and support activities
  • Effectively manage and mentor the Server team, ensuring seamless operations and project continuity, fostering a collaborative and skilled work environment. Familiarity with ServiceNow will enable them to efficiently allocate work and manage service requests, ensuring high standards of service management and delivery.
  • Ensure skills and expertise in the team are current and reflective of the changes to the technical environment as investment in infrastructure is made.

The experienced individual can quickly step in to manage and undertake critical tasks, contribute to and ensure ongoing projects stay on track, and provide the necessary expertise in undertaking Server maintenance, patching, upgrades etc whilst supporting and coaching the team of 3.

Essential Skills/Experience of the Server Team Leader will include:

  • Strong technical work background with hands-on skills with Microsoft Azure and optimisation of cloud infrastructure
  • Expertise in traditional on-premises technologies such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Experience in MS Azure, MS Office 365, MS Active Directory and Services, MS Windows Server
  • Desirable
  • Familiarity of Service Now

The ideal candidate will be able to show innovative thinking as well as being able to make quick decisions and recommendations which ensures our Infrastructure estate is secure from Cyber Incidents.
