Arthur is excited to be collaborating with a highly regarded, leading Lloyd’s Syndicate in their search for a Senior Heavy Industry & Engineering Claims Adjuster to join their already successful and highly regarded team based in the heart of the Lloyd’s Insurance market. My client specialises in underwriting risks for Engineering & Heavy Industry. Their underwriters have extensive experience inside and outside of the insurance market and are market leading experts in their specialist areas. They are seeking an experienced claims professional with knowledge of handling complex Heavy Industry and Engineering claims in the London insurance market. The underwriting portfolio provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at a top 5 Lloyd’s of London syndicate with global operations.The successful candidate will proactively adjust complex claims from their initial notification through settlement. They will need to act as a subject matter expert for the portfolio and collaborate with the underwriting team.Your Role:
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the claims within the Engineering & Heavy Industries portfolio, focusing equally on both classes ensuring that sufficient financial provisions, in accordance with the company’s reserving philosophy, are held for all claims within the portfolio and reported appropriately
  • Proactively adjust claims within their claim’s authority and in accordance with the companies claims manual, ensuring and delivering the very highest service to all our customers by effectively driving claims through to resolution
  • Nurture and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, especially with the underwriters and actuaries for the relevant classes of business
  • Ensure delegated claims are managed in accordance with the company’s claims values, ensuring effective oversight of TPAs/service providers via regular reporting on key performance indicators, peer reviews, file reviews, and general sharing of best practice
  • Instruct and proactively work with panel lawyers, adjusters, and experts to ensure the best outcomes whilst controlling costs and reducing claims leakage
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the portfolio and provide technical advice and support to more junior members of the team.
Your Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
  • An experienced claims handler and acknowledged technical expert with extensive working knowledge of handling complex claims in the Engineering and/or Heavy Industry classes in the London market (or equivalent setting)
  • Claims technical expertise to include policy coverage and liability assessment, claims negotiation skills and claims strategy
  • Understanding and applying legal, regulatory, and territorial issues relating to the policy wordings
