Transport for London (TfL) is seeking a proactive Material Controller to join our Materials Management team, supporting the motors and compressor section. About the RoleAs a Material Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring the timely delivery of materials for maintenance, projects, and related functions. Working collaboratively with TfL Commercial and stakeholders, you'll optimise inventory performance while maintaining compliance, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities- Inventory Management: Manage and optimise stock levels to meet availability requirements, ensuring all inventory data is accurate and up to date.
- Expediting Deliveries: Develop systems to ensure timely delivery of materials and support stock optimisation through de-expediting where necessary.
- Collaboration: Work closely with TfL Commercial, Engineering, and suppliers to deliver materials management solutions aligned with business needs.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in materials and purchasing activities, delivering process efficiencies.
- Data Analysis: Use tools such as Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
- Proven experience in materials management (inventory control, stock optimisation, expediting).
- Knowledge and experience of MRP/ERP systems and supply chain processes.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A "can-do" attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and performance optimisation.
- Experience in the transport industry or similar operational environments.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Progress towards relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CIPS/IOLT/ARICS or equivalent).
