Spencer & James Recruitment are seeking a proactive Assistant Design Manager to support Design Managers and Senior Design Managers at a top Tier 1 Principal Contractor in the social housing Planned Maintenance sector.

Overview:

As an Assistant Design Manager, you'll play a vital role in the design team, assisting Design Managers with the development and oversight of design programs. Your responsibilities will include addressing design issues, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring that proposals and design deliverables are thorough, budget-friendly, and practical for construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Program Oversight: Work with the Design Manager/ Senior Design Manager to create and manage design schedules and Information Required Schedules, ensuring timely achievement of project goals.
  • Expert Guidance: Offer advice on design-related concerns to the project team, facilitating effective resolution of issues.
  • Coordination: Manage and resolve design-related queries from the project team, ensuring smooth communication with the design team.
  • Proposal Development: Assist in preparing detailed, clear proposals, ensuring they are complete and meet project requirements.
  • Design Review: Evaluate design deliverables, including those from specialist suppliers, to confirm they are on budget, well-coordinated, and feasible for construction.

What We re Seeking:

  • Expertise: Clear understanding of building methods and technologies, procurement, and risk management. Ideally with a social housing maintenance background.
  • Knowledge Base: Basic familiarity with contracts, contract documentation, planning techniques, management systems, and life cycle cost/value analysis.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in design management or a similar field, with the ability to handle complex design tasks.
