Middle Office Assistant

We are seeking a Middle Office Assistant to provide operational support, ensuring high quality and compliance with group policies and UK regulatory requirements. This role requires strong attention to detail and proficiency in administrative tasks.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Open, update, and maintain customer accounts in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Process account transactions including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
  • Assist customers in setting up internet banking users and address their enquiries related to accounts, fees, statements, and transactions.
  • Assist in reconciling discrepancies in customer accounts and resolve account-related issues, escalating complex problems when necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to KYC and AML regulations and monitor accounts for suspicious activities, reporting any irregularities.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and ensure data confidentiality.
  • Process documentation related to the Treasury team, including the Certificate of Deposit (CD) program and derivatives deals (e.g., NDFs, IRS & CCRS).
  • Set up and maintain Vendors and Standing Orders.
  • Oversee the setup, modification, and deletion of SWIFT RMA relationships.
  • Support system enhancements, automation initiatives, and data integrity checks.
  • Collaborate with IT to enhance middle office reporting tools.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Graduation in Business Administration, Banking, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in customer service, account management or banking is desirable.
  • Good understanding of banking operations, account management, and financial regulations.
  • Excellent communication and people skills for customer engagement.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good knowledge in Excel and data entry (intermediate level).
  • Proficiency in English and Portuguese, with good knowledge in writing and speaking in both languages.
