Earth Wind & Hire is working with a global solar independent power producer with in excess of 5+ GW of operational solar farms around the world. They have a growing UK piepline in excess of 1+ GW to be constructed and energised over the next 3 years.
They are therefore seeking an experienced Grid Engineering Manager to oversee the delivery of interconnection projects within their UK construction portfolio. This role is critical to ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
The Grid Engineering Manager will lead all aspects of grid connection delivery, from project planning and contractor management to budget oversight and compliance. This role involves working closely with EPCs, ICPs, DNOs, and other stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the delivery of multiple utility-scale grid interconnection projects.
- Take ownership of project timelines, budgets, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Lead negotiations and manage contracts with EPCs and ICPs.
- Oversee engineering designs, ensuring compliance with technical requirements and standards.
- Track project progress through comprehensive reporting, including contractor performance, budget forecasting, and Health & Safety compliance.
- Coordinate and manage equipment manufacturing schedules to align with project milestones.
- Facilitate tendering processes and evaluate bids for future construction projects.
- Foster strong relationships with contractors and on-site teams to ensure seamless project execution.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- At least 10 years of experience managing electrical grid connection projects.
- A proven history of delivery in utility-scale renewable energy projects in the UK.
- Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with varying levels of complexity.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills, with an ability to drive project success.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to anticipate and mitigate risks.
- Valid driving license and ability to travel frequently to project sites.
- Hybrid working (2 days per week in the London office).
