  • Job Type: Full-time (35 hours per week, 8am to 4pm with 1-hour unpaid break each day)

My client are a prestigious school, are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Facilities & Estates to support and assist the Director of Operations in ensuring the smooth running of facilities and estates across our educational institution. This role is pivotal in delivering and improving upon a positive health, safety, and sustainability culture, focusing on excellent customer service for our pupils, parents, and staff.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to design and deliver the school’s estates strategy and capital investment plan.
  • Manage major building and improvement projects, ensuring minimal impact on school operations.
  • Oversee the school’s rolling maintenance programme and manage all facilities & estates service and maintenance contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, mandatory, preventative, and reactive maintenance requirements using competent staff and subcontractors.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal service users, external providers, and contractors.
  • Oversee contractor work to ensure specifications and timescales are met.
  • Provide monthly performance reports to the Director of Operations, including contractor performance.
  • Manage the school’s Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in facilities and estates management, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, advocacy, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage significant budgets and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to facilities management.
  • Experience in managing security systems and ensuring compliance across a large estate.
