- Be responsible for the routine maintenance
- Assist the Operation and Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Lead in maintaining the project facilities to budget and contractual compliance.
- Be responsible for the routine maintenance of the following systems, either in-house or subcontracted depending on the activity:
- Communications (fibre connections)
- Power Supply
- Automatic Incident Detection Cameras (AID)
- CCTV Cameras
- Lane Control Signals, Variable Message Signs
- Traffic signalling (Lane Control Signals, Variable Message Signs, traffic lights and entry control barriers)
- Radio
- Public Announcement (PA/VA)
- Lighting
- Pumping
- Ventilation
- Fixed Fire Fighting System (deluge system, foam suppression system, gas suppression system).
- Be responsible for the reactive maintenance of the systems above and supervise the isolation of failures to enable the tunnel to continue operating while the failure is fixed.
- Be responsible for the operational aspects of ITS/MEP activities to maximise efficiencies of resource and budget.
- Organise and manage the shifts of the ITS/MEP team to ensure an appropriate level of staff to respond to systems failure ensuring continuous tunnel operations.
- Carry out investigations, inspections, surveys, studies, and draft reports on identified issues and defects relating to the ITS/MEP systems, providing options for solutions.
- Liaise with the Health and Safety Director to develop safe systems of work and oversee the safe deployment of ITS/MEP sub-contractors, ensuring the safety of operatives and network customers is a primary consideration at all times.
- Oversee the cost-efficient use of plant, materials, and labour.
- Undertake internal audit checks and health and safety inspections in accordance with performance requirements.
- Assist with staff appraisals and identification of training needs for direct reports.
- Develop relationships and integration of supply chain partners and key sub-contractors.
- Ensure that the relevant data necessary for the performance measurement framework is collated, prepared, and distributed to all.
- Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with the general Health and Safety.
- Ability to work shifts or nights as required.
- Prepared to form part of the “on-call” roster.
- Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.
- Appropriate qualifications in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering to undertake the duties described above.
- Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification as a minimum requirement
- City & Guilds IEE Regulation to the latest Edition.
- CSCS/ECS Registration.
- First Aid Qualification, G39.
- Relevant experience of working within a Mechanical & Electrical environment.
- Experience of working within the highways industry including knowledge of network operations and scheme delivery.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven leadership, people management and development skills
- Computer literate adept with Microsoft programmes and other applications
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
