Job Description

The Operations Manager will oversee the safe and smooth running of the venue infrastructure, contracts and services, including health & safety and venue operations.

They will:

  • Work with Production & General Management to ensure the venue meets building control, planning and premise licensing requirements and inspections.
  • Work with Production Management and Health and Safety Advisors to ensure the Operational Management Plan standards are met. Draft adjustments to all necessary H&S documents, as needed.
  • Ensure all fire safety measures are in place.
  • In coordination with H&S Advisors keep DOT plan current to reflect any changes in production or operations. Maintain effective show operational plans for ingress, egress and any key high- energy show moments.
  • In coordination with H&S advisor, oversee site evacuation plans and conduct drills, as needed.
  • Work closely with Head of Housekeeping, F&B General Manager and FOH Manager to ensure the site accommodates special events, or special performances, tech and dress rehearsals and H&S standards are met during these events.
  • Liaise with Stage Management to ensure show running procedures and related documents are safe and follow the OMP.
  • Coordinate maintenance and specialty services of the set and show related equipment.
  • Administrate HR and schedule weekly rotations and holidays and inductions for Security, Medic, and Ops Assistants.
  • Attend meetings with HODs, as and when needed.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience in venue and operations management, preferably within an immersive or experiential production.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Sound financial acumen with an eye towards cost control.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, with a commitment to ensuring compliance.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Collaborative spirit, with a willingness to work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Innovative mindset, constantly seeking opportunities for improvement within the event operations.
  • A flexible approach to working hours.

Job Responsibilities

Additional job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the venue adheres to the running operations budget (relevant supplies, contracts with service providers, etc).
  • Support in the execution of community outreach initiatives (students, programs for local community etc). Liaise with ECDC and other 3rd party stakeholders in relation to the site and the building.
  • Ensure all teams are meeting the OMP requirements (e.g. capacities adhered to, Challenge 21 signs, speakers at correct decibels, etc). Maintain and order necessary signage for the venue and production.
  • Maintain logs of all accidents and near misses and report to Producers when appropriate.
  • Liaise with local authorities during emergency events.
  • Liaise with service contractors including but not limited to waste management company, utility providers, inspectors etc.
  • Review and feedback on all contractor RAMs in advance of any works performed on site.
