Chief Engineer

Location: London
Type: Full-time, 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday, (Apply online only)). Flexibility required for gaps and essential works.
Contract: Permanent

We're seeking a Chief Engineer for our Estates team to ensure top-notch building maintenance at the hospital and satellite sites, covering reactive, project, and scheduled maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to company policies.
  • Oversee daily operations, covering absences and delegating tasks.
  • Coordinate PPM services with external providers, minimizing disruption.
  • Perform PPMs and daily checks of plant areas, ensuring cleanliness.
  • Manage preventive maintenance schedules, keeping accurate records.
  • Respond to and prioritize incoming work orders, handling emergencies efficiently.
  • Place call-outs with external service providers.
  • Manage stock control, sourcing materials, and placing purchase orders.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds/NVQ in Electrical, Plumbing, or M&E building services).
  • Extensive engineering experience in a hospital or similar setting.
  • Management experience is desirable.
  • Broad knowledge of building services disciplines.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety, COSHH, Lifting and Handling, Fire regulations, and Water Management.
  • Supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
