Chief Engineer - Salary £45,000 to £50,000

Our client are seeking a dedicated Chief Engineer to join a renowned luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Central London.

About the Role:

As the Chief Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the operational integrity of the hotel. This is a hands-on position where you will oversee and manage a small team of engineers while working closely with the senior management team to ensure a seamless guest experience. You will take pride in ensuring that the hotels mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are functioning to the highest standards, while also managing the maintenance and upkeep of the buildings infrastructure.

Given the unique nature of the property, experience working with listed buildings is essential. You will be responsible for managing the delicate balance between modern engineering practices and preserving the historic integrity of the hotel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: Manage a small team of engineers, providing direction and fostering a collaborative working environment.

  • Maintenance Management: Oversee the maintenance of all technical equipment and systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.

  • Listed Building Care: Ensure the buildings heritage and architectural features are preserved while addressing maintenance needs, following the regulations and best practices for working with listed buildings.

  • Project Coordination: Work closely with senior management on renovations, upgrades, and any necessary improvements to the property.

  • Budget & Inventory Management: Control maintenance-related costs and manage inventory of spare parts and tools.

  • Compliance: Ensure that all systems are compliant with health and safety regulations, as well as building regulations specific to listed properties.

  • Guest Experience: Work behind the scenes to ensure that all operational systems are running smoothly, contributing to the overall guest satisfaction.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as Assistant Chief Engineer, Maintenance Manager, or similar role, within a luxury hospitality environment.

  • Strong technical background with extensive knowledge of building systems and engineering operations.
