We are seeking a Manager to lead and develop in a well-established Construction Materials Department, based at the laboratories in London. This is a high level position reporting directly to the Managing Partner for the firm.
You will be:
- An expert in construction materials testing, with significant previous experience of similar activities and an extensive knowledge of concrete.
- Report writing skills and a practical nature are essential, as is the ability to handle many live projects at once.
- Strong English language skills are important, both written and verbal.
- A degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or Construction or being able to demonstrate experience working in these sectors is preferred.
- Alternatively, our client will also look at you favourably if you have a solid foundation in scientific principles, through education or work experience.
Key Skills:
- Manage and lead the six staff in the department
- Adviseon and overseeing the testing of various construction materials including concretes, aggregates, renders, mortars, stone, brick, screeds and flooring materials (including slip resistance testing)
- Undertaketesting both on site, in the lab and additionally taking samples for later testing
- Must be able to input data into an Excel spreadsheet
- Good communication
- An eye for accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literate
