Our client are a global property & real estate organisation, with a number of high profile commercial buildings they both own and self-deliver engineering and FM services for across London. Due to some internal moves, a role has become available at one of their highest-profile commercial skyscrapers in the City, working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance across Landlord and some Tenant areas. This will be on working on a24/7 "continental", working across a rotating pattern of 12 hour day and night shifts, and reporting into both shift leads as well as engineering management desk.
Salary for thisposition is 47.5k basic, while also offering a healthy shift allowance (7k) to give a combinedincome of 54.5k. On top of this is an attractive benefits package which includes an annual bonus, private healthcare, generous pension scheme, and 26 shift days holiday. With the engineers providing cover for each other, this has the added benefit of guaranteeding 26 shifts of Overtime. Allied to a healthy budget for professional development through engineering training courses, these are some of the more attractive benefits in the London FM market.
Candidates must be fully qualified in mechanical engineering, ideally through a full apprenticeship, with at least three years of dedicated experience in commercial FM as a shift engineer. Preferably this experience will take the form of a similarly corporate environment such as skyscrapers, financial services HQs, etc. Along with core mechanical qualifications, any additional training across M&E / Building Services would be beneficial such as: Mechanical / Pressure Vessel / Legionella AP, L8, F-Gas, Cooling Towers, etc.
Particular experience of plant should include:
Electrical & Mechanical Fault-Finding, Pumps, Air Handling & Fan Coil Units, Chilled Beams, VAV/VRFs, 1st line Chiller & Boilers (Re-sets), BMS Operation, Lighting & Power, Emergency Lighting, Fire Alarm tests, etc.
The tenant base for this building is predominantly professional services, including financial services/legal, etc. As such this calls for an articulate, client-facing individual who is at home in both the plant room and meeting rooms. With avenues to progress into future shift leader positions, and working at a high-profile tower with excellent transport links into Greater London, this is an opportunity not to be missed for an experienced and ambitious shift engineer keen to move into a "client-direct" role.
